Before You Export

To ensure your film looks its best when converted to a Digital Cinema Package (DCP), you should export using a high-quality, uncompressed or lightly compressed mastering format. Below are step-by-step instructions for exporting from Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer.

Premiere Pro: Export Settings for DCP

• Go to File > Export > Media
• Format: QuickTime
• Codec: Apple ProRes 422 HQ or ProRes 4444 (preferred)
• Resolution: Match your delivery size (e.g., 1998x1080 for Flat, 2048x858 for Scope, or 1920x1080 for general use)
• Audio: 48 kHz, 24-bit, stereo or 5.1 channel WAV embedded
• Set Render at Maximum Depth and check Use Maximum Render Quality

DaVinci Resolve: Export Settings for DCP

• Go to the Deliver page
• Format: QuickTime
• Codec: Apple ProRes 4444
• Resolution: 1998x1080 (Flat), 2048x858 (Scope), or project resolution
• Audio: WAV format, 48 kHz, 24-bit
• Color Management: Use Rec.709 if not using color management. We will convert to XYZ.
• Output: Export video and audio separately if needed

Avid Media Composer: Export Settings for DCP

• Go to File > Output > Export to File
• Format: QuickTime Movie
• Codec: Apple ProRes 4444 (or DNxHR HQX if not available)
• Resolution: 2K DCI sizes if possible, otherwise HD (1920x1080)
• Audio: Separate WAV file recommended — 48 kHz, 24-bit
• Ensure Color Levels are set to RGB or Full Range

Additional Tips

• Avoid black bars—export using the correct aspect ratio if possible
• Don't include countdowns, slates, or tone unless it's part of your film
• Double-check sync and levels on audio—dialog should be centered
